Where is Summit University Residence located?
We are located at 37 Fruit Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. We are a short walk to two of the Worcester Consortium Colleges (Becker College and WPI) and within a five mile radius of all of the Consortium Colleges.
What colleges are part of the Worcester Consortium?
Anna Maria College, Assumption College, Becker College, Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, MCPHS University, Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester State University, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Do I need to be enrolled as a full time student to be eligible to live in the Residence?
During your transition time to college, it is understandable and acceptable for you to take a part time course load. The decision is one that each student should make with their college advisor and their family. We would be happy to help you determine an appropriate course load as you move through your college experience.
What are the services and support we provide?
There will be a residential curriculum in the dorm that will be tailored to each students needs. Our curriculum is focused around five areas: Social Emotional Growth, Self Advocacy, Executive Functioning, Life Skills, and Transition to Life. Students are expected to participate in all aspects of the curriculum either in individual, small group or large group settings.
Are students expected to utilize academic supports at their College?
Our goal is to prepare students for an increasingly independent college experience. We ask that all students register with the Office of Disability Services (names vary by institution) at their college which provides academic accommodation. Students will also receive support in learning how to utilize writing centers, math labs, learning centers, and other academic support services, as recommended.
How do students get to class?
Students can walk to both Becker College and WPI. Transportation will be provided to the other colleges from the Residence in the morning and back to the Residence in the late afternoon.
What meals will be provided?
During the week, breakfast and dinner will be served in the dining hall. Students will need to purchase lunch at their college. On the weekends, brunch and dinner will be served in the dining hall. Students will regularly participate in the preparation of dinner with their peers and the dorm staff as a part of the residential curriculum.
Can I bring a car to the Residence?
There is no off street parking at the Residence for students to park cars. If you bring a car to with you, you will need to park on the streets and will be subject to the City of Worcester parking rules and regulations.
